“McDonald’s Loyalty Program Changes Spark Customer Outrage”

McDonald’s customers express anger over loyalty program changes that will require more points for free food items. Currently, 5,500 points are needed for items like a Big Mac, Double Fillet of Fish, Double Sausage and Egg McMuffin, and Nine Chicken Nuggets, but starting March 17, 6,500 points will be required for these rewards. Customers earn 100 points for every £1 spent at McDonald’s.

The point threshold for items such as a regular McFlurry and an Apple Pie will go up from 2,500 points to 3,500, while a Double Cheeseburger or a McChicken sandwich will require 5,000 points instead of the previous 4,000 points.

In response to the outrage, a McDonald’s spokesperson explained that the loyalty scheme adjustments are due to increased food and supply costs. The spokesperson mentioned that despite the point increase, new redemption options like Chicken Selects and Sausage Sandwich have been added to provide more choices for customers.

The loyalty program changes come alongside the launch of McDonald’s new menu in the UK, featuring unique items such as the Surf N’ Turf burger with beef patties and a white fish fillet, a Chicken Cheeseburger, Espresso Milkshake, and Chilli Cheese Bites.
