“Trainer’s Two-Horse Team Triumphs at Punchestown”

A trainer who only had two horses recently achieved a significant victory alongside his jockey brother as Oscars Brother triumphed in the Boodles Florida Pearl Novice Chase at Punchestown. The competition featured entries from top Irish stables like Gordon Elliott and Henry de Bromhead, as well as Rocky’s Diamond, who finished fourth in the 2025 Stayers’ Hurdle.

Despite facing tough competition, Connor King, the handler, outperformed them all with Oscars Brother, guided by his brother and jockey Daniel, who skillfully navigated the seven-year-old around the County Kildare track. Maintaining a prominent position throughout the race, Oscars Brother, the 7-4 favorite, delivered a strong finish, crossing the line three lengths ahead of Koktail Divin from De Bromhead’s stable.

Prior to the three-mile race at Punchestown, Oscars Brother had a preparation run in a novice chase at Galway on soft to heavy ground. The duo now aims to elevate Oscars Brother to a Grade One level horse at their stable, where they have only one other racehorse in training.

Daniel expressed his delight at securing a victory for his brother, describing Oscars Brother as a fantastic horse to train and ride. Reflecting on the race, he highlighted their horse’s progress and positive attitude, indicating the potential for future success. Looking ahead, Connor, a former jockey, hinted at targeting the Grade One Faugheen Novices’ Chase at Limerick during the Christmas period, emphasizing Oscars Brother’s transition from hurdles to chasing.

Connor reminisced about the previous year’s race with only three runners, envisioning a similar competitive opportunity for Oscars Brother in the upcoming event.
