A mother in grief witnessed her teenage daughter’s final moments after a scrambler bike collided with her while she was crossing a road on Sunday.
Yesterday at approximately 2:20 pm, authorities responded to a collision involving a pedestrian and a bike on Ratoath Road in Finglas, Dublin.
The incident occurred when a scrambler bike, carrying an adult male and a teenage boy, struck 16-year-old Grace Lynch as she crossed the road. Despite all three individuals sustaining injuries, Grace was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries and tragically passed away at Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown a few hours later. The suspected driver of the scrambler bike was arrested.
The devastated mother, Siobhan, expressed her profound sorrow and remembered her daughter as a beautiful, funny, and loving individual. She emphasized the need for justice and shared memories of Grace’s infectious smile and personality. Siobhan urged for measures to remove such bikes from roads to prevent further tragedies.
Emergency services responded swiftly, providing critical care to Grace at the scene before transporting her to Connolly Hospital, where she was pronounced dead later that day. The two individuals on the scrambler bike sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were also taken to the hospital for treatment.
Authorities are urging witnesses of the collision to come forward with any information or footage that could assist in the investigation. Gardaí are conducting a thorough examination of the scene, and the road remains closed as part of the ongoing investigation.
