A man has been banned from all pubs in Wales after a recent violent incident. Julio Waters, along with his father Wayne, attacked a bar staff member in Neath, causing injuries and significant dental expenses. This assault occurred after Julio was asked to leave the pub due to a previous incident where he had assaulted a customer and was banned as a result.
During the court hearing at Swansea Crown Court, it was revealed that 39-year-old Julio Waters has a history of violent behavior in pubs across Neath and Swansea, leading to his previous ban from all licensed establishments in Neath Port Talbot. The judge, in sentencing Waters for his latest assault, highlighted the threat he poses to bar staff and patrons, hence the decision to ban him from all licensed premises in Wales to prevent potential harm.
According to prosecutor Dean Pulling, the initial assault happened in August 2024 outside the Ambassador Hotel in Neath, where Julio Waters unexpectedly attacked a man socializing outside the bar. Waters then instructed a staff member to remove any potential CCTV evidence of the attack.
Subsequent investigations identified Waters as the assailant, resulting in his ban from the venue. In a separate incident in May 2023, Julio and Wayne Waters were involved in a violent confrontation at the same location, with Julio assaulting a security guard. Both father and son were uncooperative during police questioning and were later charged.
Julio Waters, residing in Bevan Avenue, Cadoxton, Neath, pleaded guilty to assault charges and received a 27-month prison sentence. He will serve half of the term in custody and the rest in the community, along with a two-year ban from all licensed premises in Wales. Meanwhile, Wayne Waters, from Priory Close, Bryncoch, Neath, admitted to assault charges and was given a 12-month suspended prison sentence, in addition to a rehabilitation course and compensation payment.
The judge emphasized the seriousness of their actions and the need for accountability, especially highlighting the impact on Julio’s daughter and the responsibility Wayne holds for his son’s behavior.
