“Woman Fatally Hit by Fleeing Driver, Husband Recalls Horror”

A husband, Clint Harrison, recalls the terrifying screams he heard as his wife, Suzanne Cherry, was fatally hit by a reckless builder fleeing from the police. The tragic incident occurred at Aston Wood Golf Club in Sutton, England, where a van driven by John McDonald struck Suzanne, causing critical injuries that led to her passing four days later.

John McDonald, 52, admitted guilt to causing death by dangerous driving and received a sentence of 13 years and six months in prison. His son and an associate, Johnny McDonald and Brett Delaney, were also sentenced to 32 months and 28 months, respectively, for their involvement in a connected fraud scheme. As per U.K. laws, John McDonald may be released after serving two-thirds of his term, which could be around eight years.

Clint Harrison expressed the lasting trauma of witnessing his wife’s tragic end, emphasizing the haunting memory of her final scream before the impact. Suzanne’s brother, Adrian Cherry, emphasized the need for John McDonald to face a lifetime behind bars for his actions.

During the court proceedings, police dashcam footage revealed the harrowing chase that ensued, involving dangerous driving maneuvers by John McDonald as he evaded law enforcement. The pursuit culminated in the fatal collision at the golf course, where Suzanne Cherry was struck while playing golf with her husband.

After the crash, the men fled the scene, leading to their eventual arrest days later. Suzanne sustained severe injuries, including fractured ribs and internal damage, ultimately succumbing to her wounds in the hospital. The men were linked to a fraud scheme targeting vulnerable individuals, highlighting John McDonald’s criminal history and previous convictions.

Despite the legal repercussions, Clint Harrison continues to grapple with the injustice of his wife’s untimely death, expressing his frustration over the denial of compensation by the authorities. He remains resolute in seeking justice for Suzanne and condemning the criminals’ disregard for human life during their escape.
