Gardai apprehended five young boys in relation to an alleged sexual assault on a teenage girl in Dublin. According to reports from the Irish Mirror, investigators suspect that six boys participated in the assault, with one of them recording part of the incident on a mobile device. The boys allegedly provided the victim with alcohol before carrying out the assault. The victim confided in a family member who then notified the authorities.
The boys were initially detained on suspicion of sexual assault but were subsequently released without charges. A report will be assembled for review by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
A spokesperson for the Garda informed the Irish Mirror that the investigation into the alleged assault on the female is ongoing. The arrests of the five individuals occurred on January 20, 2026, and they were questioned regarding the alleged offense before being released pending further actions by the DPP.
While the authorities did not disclose the ages of the suspects or the victim, the Irish Mirror has verified that all individuals involved are minors.
