Two adolescents have been taken into custody on suspicion of homicide following the fatal stabbing of a 15-year-old individual.
The youths, aged 15 and 16, are currently under police interrogation after a tragic incident in a park in Guildford, Surrey, where a schoolboy lost his life. A police representative stated, “Two teenagers, aged 15 and 16, have been apprehended on suspicion of murder. They are currently in police custody as our investigation progresses.”
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward through the Major Incident Public Portal, where dashcam and CCTV footage can also be submitted. The tragic event took place in Stoke Park, Guildford, around 6 pm on Monday, resulting in the untimely death of the young boy despite efforts from emergency services and bystanders.
Detective Chief Superintendent Debbie White of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team expressed, “We are actively working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the death and identify those accountable. Although details are limited at this point, we are vigorously pursuing various leads in our investigation.”
The park has been sealed off, with forensic teams and blue police tents visible at the scene. Local residents have expressed shock over the incident, emphasizing that the area is typically frequented by families and children. Efforts to resuscitate the victim were made by individuals nearby, including staff from a leisure center in the vicinity.
Authorities are supporting the victim’s family with specialized assistance, urging potential witnesses to step forward promptly. DCS White extended condolences to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult period, emphasizing the continued police presence in the area.
Guildford MP Zoe Franklin conveyed her sympathy to the victim’s family and encouraged those with relevant information to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
