“Yellow Weather Warning: Strong Winds to Disrupt Transport”

Residents in 18 areas are advised to prepare for possible disruptions and delays due to strong winds expected to hit parts of the country starting at 4am. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind covering a significant area in south-west England and Wales from 4am to 4pm on Tuesday. The warning highlights potential delays in road, rail, air, and ferry transportation.

Drivers of high-sided vehicles might experience delays on exposed routes and bridges, and the possibility of power outages and other service disruptions exists. Coastal communities are cautioned about the impact of spray and large waves caused by winds reaching speeds of up to 65mph.

The Met Office stated that south-easterly winds will intensify on Tuesday morning, especially over high ground areas, with gusts expected to reach 45-50 mph. Additionally, heavy rain will move eastward throughout the day, with wind gusts of 45-55 mph inland and possibly up to 60-65 mph on exposed hills and coasts. The winds are anticipated to calm down as the rain band passes through.

Residents in the affected regions are advised to prepare for potential power cuts by gathering essential items before any outages occur. The weather warning emphasizes the importance of being ready for power cuts by having torches, batteries, a mobile phone power pack, and other necessities on hand.

People are encouraged to stay informed about road, sea, or rail conditions before traveling and to be aware of any service disruptions. Coastal residents are warned to avoid large breaking waves that could pose a danger.

In South West England and Wales, residents are urged to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions to minimize the impact of the upcoming weather conditions.
