A tragic incident occurred in Swords near Dublin where a woman in her 60s lost her life after being struck by a lorry at a street junction. The female pedestrian, who has not been identified yet, was declared dead at the scene following the collision with the lorry around 12:30pm on Tuesday.
Authorities closed the road and set up local diversions as emergency services responded to the fatal accident at the junction of Church Road and Bridge Street. Gardaí are urging witnesses, especially the driver of a small silver hatchback car that was not directly involved but was trailing the lorry, to come forward with any information they may have.
Individuals with camera footage, such as dash-cam recordings, from the vicinity of Church Road and Bridge Street between 12:10pm and 12:40pm are requested to provide it to the investigating Gardaí. The deceased woman’s body was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown for a post-mortem examination, while a technical examination of the scene is being conducted by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. In a separate incident, a private jet crash at Bangor International Airport in the US resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, with one crew member sustaining serious injuries. The US Federal Aviation Administration reported that the Bombardier Challenger 600, carrying eight people, crashed during takeoff amidst a snowstorm at around 7:45pm on Sunday. The airport, located in Maine and about 200 miles north of Boston, Massachusetts, was closed following the tragic event.
The jet involved in the crash is registered to a corporation sharing an address with the law firm Arnold and Itkin Trial Lawyers in Houston, Texas. Investigations are being carried out by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board to determine the cause of the accident.
