Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are set to create history with a rematch at The Las Vegas Sphere in what will be the first-ever professional boxing event at that venue, scheduled for September. The two renowned boxing legends previously faced off in a highly anticipated bout labeled the ‘Fight of the Century’ in 2015, where Mayweather emerged victorious. Despite both fighters having retired, they are now gearing up for a rematch.
Netflix has officially announced that Mayweather Pacquiao II will be held on September 19 at The Las Vegas Sphere, marking another significant deal for the streaming platform following its coverage of Anthony Joshua’s fight against Jake Paul last December. The upcoming rematch between Mayweather and Pacquiao is expected to break records, as their previous encounter at the MGM Grand Garden Arena generated massive pay-per-view buys and set a record gate.
In their initial fight, Mayweather reportedly earned $250 million while Pacquiao pocketed $150 million. Mayweather, known as ‘Money,’ secured a victory in their previous bout and will put his flawless 50-0 record on the line in the rematch, set to be a professionally sanctioned match.
Pacquiao expressed excitement about the upcoming fight, emphasizing the anticipation of the fans for this rematch, which will be globally streamed on Netflix. He aims to hand Mayweather his first professional loss and to honor his fellow Filipinos with this fight.
