The Montreal Roses made a significant decision to terminate their inaugural head coach, Robert Rositoiu, following their elimination from the W Canadian Championship. Marinette Pichon, the club’s sporting director, expressed gratitude towards Rositoiu for establishing the foundation of the professional women’s soccer team during its early stages. The decision to part ways with Rositoiu was described as a difficult one, acknowledging his professionalism and character.
Acknowledging the need for a fresh approach to propel the team forward, Pichon emphasized the importance of a new direction to navigate the remainder of the season and advance the club’s growth. Currently positioned second in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, the Roses have 10 matches remaining in the regular season.
Robert Rositoiu assumed the role of head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the Roses’ debut season in the NSL in 2025. In the interim, Maryse Bard-Martel, the team’s former assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will step in as the interim head coach. Bard-Martel will lead the team in the upcoming match against AFC Toronto as the club begins the process of selecting a permanent replacement for Rositoiu.
