Eight fire engines and approximately 60 firefighters responded to a fire incident involving LEAD acid batteries at a 13-storey building in East London. The fire broke out in a data centre on Nutmeg Lane in Blackwall, E14, around 4:52 am. The London Fire Brigade reported that the basement of the building housed about 200 LEAD acid batteries.
The fire, which affected a small section of the basement containing the batteries, was swiftly addressed by the emergency crews. Multiple fire engines and firefighters from various fire stations, including Poplar, Millwall, Plaistow, Stratford, East Ham, and East Greenwich, were mobilized to the scene.
The London Fire Brigade confirmed that the fire was brought under control by 06:43 am and mentioned that the cause of the incident is currently under investigation. Photos from the scene captured the significant response effort to contain the fire swiftly and effectively.
