Despite his request to participate, the team management opted for other players, leaving Evans questioning his future involvement in such events.
The situation took a positive turn for Evans in the following year when he and partner Neal Skupski secured a win in the doubles rubber against Colombia. Although Evans faced a defeat in his singles match, Team Britain emerged victorious with a 3-1 scoreline, ensuring their place in the Davis Cup Finals. Unfortunately, Evans had to sit out the 2023 finale due to an injury.
