Chris Robshaw Expresses Disappointment Over Strictly Snub

Former rugby union player Chris Robshaw, a participant on the recent series of the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, expressed disappointment for not being included in the upcoming live show, feeling he was overlooked due to his ranking on the show. Robshaw exited the competition in week four of the 2025 season alongside his dance partner Nadiya Bychkova, becoming the third contestant to leave. The series was eventually won by Karen Carney and Carlos Gu after Robshaw was eliminated following a dance-off against EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon.

During the pivotal episode, Robshaw and Bychkova performed a salsa routine to Ricky Martin’s “Maria,” while Sopal and Caillon showcased a paso doble to Rodrigo y Gabriela’s “Diablo Rojo.” The judges were split in their decision, with Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas voting to save Robshaw, but Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood opting for Sopal, leading to Robshaw’s departure from the competition.

Although the 2025 season has concluded, the anticipation for the Strictly live tour is building as it kicks off in Birmingham. Robshaw revealed that he was not selected for the tour, indicating that he plans to return to the rugby world but is open to dancing in more informal settings. Despite not being chosen for the tour, Robshaw continues to practice his dance moves at home with his wife and one-year-old son, Hunter, who shares his love for the music featured on the show.

Reflecting on his time on Strictly Come Dancing, Robshaw expressed gratitude for the experience, calling it an “amazing journey.” His departure from the show was met with sadness from fellow competitors and his wife, who even admitted to feeling protective and wanting to confront one of the judges following his elimination. Representatives for the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour have been contacted for further comments.
