The family of a missing university student expressed deep sorrow as a body was found in water. Connor Calleja, 20, vanished after being turned away from a nightclub in Lincoln early on January 11th. Lincolnshire Police confirmed the discovery of a body in Brayford Pool. Heartbroken John Lewis, Connor’s stepfather, thanked the community for their support during the search efforts. In a Facebook post, he urged everyone to cherish their loved ones and reflected on their love for Connor. The family had made public pleas for Connor’s return and had even deposited money into his account as a precaution. Recalling the events leading to Connor’s disappearance, his stepfather mentioned the nightclub incident where Connor was denied entry despite not being intoxicated. The family last saw Connor at University Bridge and later near the canal boats around 2:10 am. Despite awaiting formal identification, authorities believe the body recovered is that of Connor. The University of Lincoln mourned the loss of Mr. Calleja, describing him as a cherished member of their community. The university is considering ways to honor Connor’s memory.
