CBC has secured an extended broadcast deal with The Curling Group, enhancing its coverage of Canadian curling for the next five years. The agreement will significantly increase the airing of Grand Slam of Curling playoffs and all Rock League games on CBC and Sportsnet platforms, totaling over 300 hours during the 2026-27 season.
The notable addition for CBC is the inclusion of Rock League matches. The professional league, which debuted in April, is set to return to CBC in January 2027. Fans can catch every game on CBC television and CBC Gem, with selected matches also broadcast on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV and Sportsnet on Thursdays and Fridays.
Rock League comprises six mixed-gender teams with international curlers, scheduling events on specific weekends in January and April. Games are slated from Thursday through Sunday during the league’s second season.
In addition to Rock League, CBC will play a more prominent role in covering the Grand Slam of Curling. Sportsnet remains the primary broadcaster for all five Grand Slam events starting in October. Each Tuesday through Friday, three draws will be shown, with CBC and CBC Gem joining Sportsnet+ for Saturday’s playoff coverage. The championship finals on Sundays will be aired on Sportsnet, with CBC also featuring select finals throughout the season. Morning round-robin draws and tiebreakers from Tuesday to Saturday will be available for streaming on Rock Channel.
This new agreement builds on CBC’s extensive history of curling coverage, expanding its presence around key Canadian curling events. Chris Wilson, CBC’s executive director of sports and Olympics, expressed excitement about sharing another season of Rock League with audiences nationwide. The Curling Group’s CEO and co-founder, Nic Sulsky, sees the deal as a significant moment for the sport, providing both the Grand Slam and Rock League with a broader national viewership.
Over the next five years, Canadian viewers can anticipate more ways to follow curling, from the thrilling Grand Slam playoff weekends to the upcoming second season of Rock League on CBC.
