Joe Marler Reveals £30,000 Fee for The Celebrity Traitors

Joe Marler recently disclosed that he was paid £30,000 for his involvement in The Celebrity Traitors show in the past year. The ex-England rugby player gained popularity as a standout participant in the BBC spin-off series aired from October to November 2025.

Despite making it to the final episode of the program, Marler failed to convince his fellow contestants that Alan Carr was a ‘Traitor’, leading to his elimination and ultimately crowning Carr as the winner of a charity prize. Marler’s participation reportedly earned him a significant fee, different from the standard format of the show where participants received a fixed payment rather than a daily wage.

Details about the payment structure were discussed by Richard Osman and journalist Marina Hyde on their podcast, revealing that all celebrities were paid £40,000 for the nine episodes shot over a three-week period in a Scottish Highlands castle. However, Marler clarified post-show that the reported £40,000 payment was inaccurate as he personally received £30,000.

Speaking about the discrepancy in payments, Marler mentioned that he was aware not everyone received the same amount, but he was content with his earnings. Throughout his successful rugby career spanning 15 years, Marler has amassed nearly £4 million from various sources including sponsorships, a podcast, and his last rugby contract worth £450,000 annually.

Despite the ups and downs on The Celebrity Traitors, Marler’s fame has continued to rise post-retirement, leading to new opportunities like his podcast, “Joe Marler Will See You Now,” where he hosts renowned guests for mock psychological assessments. Additionally, Marler has shared his pre-match rituals for preparing for big games, which include a spa massage, yoga, and singing loudly in the shower to boost energy.

Marler has also taken on the role of ‘Fancierge’ for IHG Hotels & Resorts during the Six Nations, offering unique fan experiences in various cities like Rome, Cardiff, and Edinburgh. Reflecting on his collaboration with IHG, Marler emphasized the importance of embracing the full experience of rugby weekends beyond the game itself.
