“Vodafone Introduces 5G Router for High-Speed Internet”

Vodafone is introducing a novel method to connect to the internet. Rather than relying on traditional copper or fiber cables, the company’s latest Wi-Fi router operates by downloading files and streaming movies through a 5G mobile signal.

This innovation caters to households that currently lack access to high-speed fiber connections or desire more flexibility. The router’s portability is advantageous for renters or students frequently changing accommodations. Additionally, the setup is hassle-free as it operates on Vodafone’s network, eliminating the need for professional installation.

It is important to note that this new system offers speeds up to 150Mbps, suitable for activities like streaming Netflix, sending emails, and remote work, but falls short of the speeds achievable with full fiber connections exceeding 900Mbps.

For perspective, downloading a full HD movie using this 5G router takes approximately 8 minutes, compared to just 40 seconds with a fiber gigabit connection. To aid consumers in making informed decisions, Vodafone is launching an integrated availability checker on its website, simplifying the selection process between full fiber and 5G Broadband based on speed preferences in the area.

This isn’t Vodafone’s first foray into 5G internet access. The previously offered GigaCube has been replaced by this new router model. Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at VodafoneThree, emphasized the initiative’s aim to provide fast and reliable broadband options to homes still reliant on slower connections, offering a choice between full fiber and 5G Broadband for better speed and flexibility.

It’s notable that Three, now part of Vodafone, also provides a similar service. Vodafone’s plans start at £21 per month, while Three’s home broadband is currently priced at £11 for the initial nine months.
