Malin + Goetz, a popular beauty brand, has recently gone into administration, leading to the closure of its seven retail stores in the UK. These stores were located in various parts of London, including Seven Dials, Soho, Spitalfields, Islington, Canary Wharf, Battersea Power Station, and Borough Yards. The closure is expected to affect over 70 jobs.
In response to the administration, online orders through Malin + Goetz’s website have been temporarily halted. A notice on their website informs customers of this temporary pause in online ordering and encourages them to check out the collection, assuring a return to normal operations soon.
Despite the closure of its own stores, customers can still purchase Malin + Goetz products from third-party retailers like Liberty, John Lewis, and Space NK.
A spokesperson from Malin + Goetz, speaking to TheIndustry.beauty, explained that after a thorough review of the business and exploring all options, the decision to enter administration was made, resulting in the closure of UK stores and the head office. The spokesperson expressed regret over the impact on employees and customers, acknowledging the unfortunate but necessary loss of jobs.
Reports indicate that the Malin + Goetz website will undergo maintenance and be back online shortly, although the exact timeline is unclear. The brand, founded in New York in 2004 by Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz, initially offered a small range of six products catering to all skin types. Over the years, the company has expanded its product lines to include fragrances, bodycare items, and a variety of beauty products.
