“Atrocious Dismemberment Murders Rock Amityville”

An atrocious crime unfolded as a malevolent pair ruthlessly murdered and dismembered their housemates using meat cleavers in a harrowing incident.

Jeffrey Mackey, Alexis Nieves, along with their partner Steven Brown, were sentenced and incarcerated for the fatal assault on Malcom Brown, aged 53, and his spouse, Donna Conneely, aged 59, that occurred on February 27, 2024, in Amityville, New York. The victims were viciously stabbed upon entering their residence. Nieves reportedly struck Conneely in the head with a meat tenderizer before stabbing her, while Mackey proceeded to stab Malcom in the neck and torso. The heinous act came to light when a student discovered a severed left arm at a park just two days later.

Authorities found a second male arm near the initial discovery and located a female head, torso, arm, and parts of female legs in Babylon Village on the opposite side of the park. Additional human remains were found at two other sites on March 5, 2024, leading to the identification of Malcolm and Donna as the victims. The police visited the residence where the couple resided with Malcolm, Conneely, Brown, and Brown’s partner Amanda Wallace.

Investigations revealed the presence of two meat cleavers, a large kitchen knife, and traces of blood in various areas within the home. Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney stated that the defendants allegedly dismembered the victims’ bodies in the bathroom of the residence. Steven and Wallace assisted in cutting up the victims’ bodies and disposing of them, as per a police statement.

Mackey, aged 40, Nieves, aged 35, and Brown, who was Malcolm’s relative, all admitted guilt when charged in April 2024. Mackey and Nieves received reduced sentences through a plea deal, citing abuse by the victims as a mitigating factor, according to People.

In a statement to NBC 4, Mackey’s attorney remarked that Mackey and his wife had been subjected to physical, emotional, and financial abuse by the victims, which allegedly fueled the crimes.

During the trial, Mackey pled guilty to two counts of second-degree murder and received a 22-year prison sentence, while Nieves was sentenced to 11 years for a misdemeanor. Steven Brown was handed a five-year sentence for conspiracy, whereas Wallace pleaded guilty to concealing a human corpse and was sentenced to up to two years behind bars in November.

Expressing remorse, Mackey stated, “I deeply regret the events that transpired. I wish they were still alive, and I wish I had never crossed paths with them. I extend my apologies to their families for the unfortunate turn of events.”

However, Malcolm’s family criticized the leniency of the sentencing, labeling it a mere slap on the wrist. They questioned the appropriateness of a five-year sentence for Steven Brown, considering the severity of the crimes committed.
