“Burger King Plans Rapid UK Expansion Amid Strong Sales”

Burger King, a leading fast-food chain, has unveiled its strategy to expand rapidly in the UK by opening 30 new locations annually. With a current count of 574 restaurants in the UK, the company plans to kickstart this expansion from the upcoming year, focusing on self-operated sites rather than franchise-run establishments.

Despite facing economic challenges, Burger King reported strong sales performance in its recent financial results. The company noted positive developments in its operations this year, citing a slowdown in inflation. However, it acknowledged the impact of financial constraints on consumers and cost escalations linked to the previous year’s Budget on the UK hospitality industry.

Alasdair Murdoch, the CEO of Burger King UK, addressed the prevailing issues, stating, “While food and utility costs have stabilized, the sector grapples with subdued consumer sentiment and rising labor expenses due to significant wage hikes.”

Earlier this year, Burger King made headlines by collaborating with renowned chef Gordon Ramsay to introduce an £11 wagyu burger. The company reported robust trading in 2025, surpassing $1 billion (£748 million) in system-wide sales in the UK. Additionally, it secured a franchise extension agreement for Burger King UK in the Republic of Ireland for the first time, opening up new avenues for growth.

In its financial report for the previous year, Burger King disclosed a 7% revenue increase to £408.3 million in 2024. Meanwhile, underlying profits grew by 12% to £26 million, attributed to prudent cost management practices.

Mr. Murdoch expressed satisfaction with the company’s performance in 2024, stating, “Despite economic challenges and cost pressures, we achieved revenue growth, positive sales figures, and enhanced EBITDA through rigorous cost control and operational focus.”
