JD Vance criticized the victim of a shooting in a shocking speech without providing any evidence, accusing her of being “brainwashed” and “radicalized” and holding her responsible for her own demise.
The Vice President of the United States expressed his desire to reduce tensions following the tragic death of Renee Good, who was shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis. However, during a sudden press briefing at the White House, he alleged that the 37-year-old mother of three intentionally attempted to hit the agent, who he claimed acted in self-defense. He described her passing as a “tragedy of her own creation.”
This incident occurred after Donald Trump stated that the shooter had sustained injuries during the confrontation and had received medical attention at a hospital, despite footage showing him walking around the crime scene before driving away. When asked about potentially prejudicing an ongoing investigation, Trump dismissed any concerns.
Despite widespread contradictions from sources outside the Trump administration, Trump maintained that his account of the events was accurate. Video footage suggests that Good was trying to maneuver her vehicle around the agent when he fired at her.
Accusing Good of being part of a “radical left network” aiming to obstruct ICE operations, Vance made baseless claims that she was “brainwashed” and “radicalized.” Contrary to these assertions, local reports indicated that she had dropped off her child at school and was heading home, with her ex-husband stating she had no activist background.
Vance questioned how a mother with children would decide to confront ICE officers enforcing the law, insinuating a level of brainwashing. He justified his conclusions by selectively interpreting the video evidence, though the footage suggests a different sequence of events.
He also chastised the media for not highlighting the agent’s previous encounters with vehicles. However, as the agent’s identity remains undisclosed, the veracity of these claims cannot be verified.
Vance further defended the agent’s actions, claiming that Good accelerated her vehicle towards him, despite footage showing her vehicle speeding up after being shot in the head. He criticized media reports portraying Good as innocent and praised the alleged shooter for his actions.
When asked about the alleged network that influenced Good, Vance indicated that it was a matter needing further investigation. The Homeland Security Secretary confirmed that local authorities would not participate in the inquiry, asserting that the FBI, under Trump appointee Kash Patel’s leadership, would solely handle the investigation.
