Households in the UK relying on Freeview for their television entertainment are advised to check their devices and consider performing a quick retune due to recent channel adjustments. While the changes are not extensive, a swift retune will ensure that TVs are updated with the latest information.
Freeview has confirmed these updates, stating, “On May 20, 2026, certain broadcasters will be modifying their channels.
“To keep your TV guide and channels up to date, you will need to retune your TV.”
So, what specific changes are taking place, what’s new, and what’s being relocated?
Two channels are undergoing name changes: Hobbycraft TV on channel 97 is now renamed Shop Unlimited, and Great! Romance Mix on channel 61 is being substituted by Great! TV +1.
Additionally, there are adjustments in channel numbering. Great! Movies is shifting from channel 61 to channel 62, while Great! TV +1 is relocating to channel 61.
Freeview emphasized, “Channels on Freeview are continuously evolving as individual providers decide to relocate, add, or remove channels.
“Freeview remains committed to offering audiences a diverse and engaging content selection.”
If the updates are not reflected on your TV, manual retuning of your device may be necessary.
To retune your TV:
