The Original Factory Shop has recently brought in administrators, with Interpath Advisory taking on the role. This move has put 137 stores and 1,180 jobs in jeopardy. While the physical stores are still operating normally, the online operations have been ceased for now.
The challenges faced by The Original Factory Shop include increased costs, particularly in labor, and a decrease in sales due to reduced consumer spending. Compounded by issues with its third-party warehouse and logistics provider, the company’s situation was further complicated. Established in 1969, The Original Factory Shop was acquired by Modella Capital last year.
Rick Harrison, the managing director at Interpath and a joint administrator, expressed regret over the necessity to place The Original Factory Shop under administration. The focus now is on preserving the company’s operations while exploring potential solutions for the business, in close collaboration with the dedicated team at The Original Factory Shop.
