“Terrorist supporter claims police entrapment in conviction appeal”

A supporter of terrorism who had expressed intentions to overthrow the government is seeking to challenge his conviction by alleging he was tricked by the police. Oliver Lewin, 41, received a six-year prison sentence for planning to bomb communication towers across the UK. Lewin, a believer in conspiracy theories, believed in a Jewish conspiracy controlling the country and accused the government of planning genocide through Covid vaccinations. Recent documents from the Parole Board reveal that Lewin has filed an appeal with the Criminal Cases Review Commission, disputing his conviction on grounds of police entrapment.

Following a public and closed hearing conducted by the Parole Board, it was determined that Lewin poses a risk to the public and should remain incarcerated as releasing him would pose a significant threat. A prison psychologist mentioned that Lewin’s risk level is not fully understood. Lewin had expressed his belief that white Europeans were being targeted by vaccines, leading to a communist system emerging in Britain.

Lewin was convicted by the Birmingham Crown Court for engaging in activities preparing for terrorist actions. He had shared extremist views online, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic, and had attempted to incite undercover officers to sabotage a major transmitter in Sutton Coldfield. Lewin had also made plans to disable critical communication and transportation infrastructure in the country.

After being arrested in August 2021, Lewin’s plans were found to be progressing rapidly as he conducted surveillance on communication towers and provided detailed instructions on cable cutting. He had even begun drafting a manual for potential accomplices. Despite his attempts to recruit others, including a minor, Lewin was apprehended with military-style gear at his residence.

The parole decision highlighted that Lewin’s online activities posed the greatest risk and that his offenses were primarily internet-based, driven by his search for conspiracy theories. If released, his risk management plan would involve restrictions on internet access, mobile phone use, and GPS tracking for a specified period. During the parole hearing, Lewin expressed a newfound respect for Jewish people, contrary to his previous hostile beliefs.

The sentencing judge had remarked on Lewin’s dangerous beliefs about the Covid vaccine and government involvement in a conspiracy linked to Israel.
