A woman who survived being buried alive in a powerful earthquake shared her extraordinary encounter with death, revealing that she felt she passed away twice but was revived by a mysterious presence. Maayan Sebbag was on a journey with a friend, exploring various once-in-a-lifetime adventures on her bucket list.
Their final destination was a panda reserve situated in a secluded area of China. While enjoying lunch, the ground suddenly started shaking, trapping Maayan under debris. She described feeling enveloped in darkness, hearing two distinct voices guiding her. One voice forewarned her of no rescue, while the other assured her survival, influencing her strength based on which voice she believed.
Struggling to break free, Maayan managed to escape the rubble and was swiftly attended to for her injuries. Despite her attempts to flee the earthquake, a fall resulted in severe head and facial injuries, leaving her trapped in what she described as a “tiny grave.” Transported to a makeshift medical facility due to the collapse of the hospital, she endured critical injuries.
Maayan recalled the harrowing experience of being on the brink of death, with her body failing after days without sustenance. She described a peaceful sensation of being lifted away, feeling a sense of belonging in a dark space until a divine voice posed a poignant question about her deepest regret.
Having pleaded to return to her body, Maayan recounted the spiritual encounter in 2008 where she was given a second chance under specific instructions. Resisting the allure of an ethereal realm, she chose to return, guided by a divine plan to walk towards recovery amid the devastation.
Undergoing extensive surgery to repair her wounds, Maayan faced another brush with death but ultimately opted to return to her physical form. Rebuilding her face and enduring a lengthy rehabilitation process, she remained silent about her near-death experiences until sharing her story through a book, “Unburied,” aimed at dispelling fear of death.
In a profound reflection on her journey, Maayan emphasized the transformative nature of surviving such a profound ordeal, highlighting her eventual fulfillment of becoming a mother and asserting that death signifies a transition rather than an end. Her resilience and newfound perspective inspire hope and courage in facing life’s challenges.
