“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” Swings to $700M in 13 Days

The latest Spider-Man movie, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” has achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the fastest film to reach the $700 million mark at the North American box office in just 13 days. This accomplishment places it among an elite group of seven movies in North America to surpass this milestone, with notable films like “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and “Avengers: Endgame” taking 16 days to achieve the same feat.

Starring Tom Holland in his fourth portrayal as Peter Parker, alongside his co-star and wife, Zendaya, the Marvel and Sony collaboration has garnered immense popularity. The storyline follows Peter Parker living in solitude in New York City, where his alter ego, Spider-Man, has been erased from everyone’s memory, leading to a conflict with his powers.

The success of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” extends beyond North America, with the film grossing over $1.108 billion globally within just two weekends of its release. This surpasses the international earnings of its predecessor, “No Way Home,” which collected $1.106 billion. The movie has broken several records, including surpassing “Avengers: Endgame” for the biggest domestic opening weekend, achieving the highest-grossing first week in domestic box office history, and becoming the second-fastest film to reach $1 billion globally, trailing only behind “Avengers: Endgame.”

Additionally, the film has become Sony’s highest-grossing release in 26 international markets. The success of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has sparked discussions about its darker tone and the balance between the protagonist’s personal life and crime-fighting duties in New York.
