A mother feared for her life when she was attacked by her friend’s pitbull terriers, narrowly avoiding a fatal injury to her neck during the harrowing incident.
Crystal Ray, aged 42, described being in a relaxed state at her friend’s residence until he left the room. While sitting on the floor with her Corgi pet, Jasper, the dogs suddenly turned aggressive towards her puppy. In a frantic attempt to save her one-year-old companion, Crystal intervened to separate the dogs. However, in the process of protecting her pet, one of the pitbulls clamped onto her neck.
The truck driver expressed gratitude for surviving the ordeal after one dog bit into her skin like a sharp knife. Subsequently, the other pitbull attacked her head while she was trying to defend her beloved pet. Following the terrifying encounter, Crystal was rushed to the hospital where she underwent treatment, including a blood transfusion.
Recalling the distressing moment of the attack, Crystal, a resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, shared her fear and desperation to safeguard Jasper from harm. She vividly recounted the sensation of the dog’s teeth piercing her skin, causing her to fear for her life due to the proximity to a major blood vessel. Despite the pain, her primary concern remained Jasper’s safety.
Although Jasper managed to escape, the danger persisted as another dog lunged at Crystal, injuring her head. Determined to survive, Crystal fought off the aggressive dogs to prevent a tragic outcome for herself and her pet. She highlighted the distressing image of the pitbulls wagging their tails as if enjoying the chaos.
After being hospitalized for several days and receiving critical medical care, Crystal narrowly avoided a life-threatening situation. She emphasized the close call with her jugular vein, recounting the medical complications and the efforts to stabilize her condition to prevent suffocation.
Following the incident, Crystal’s pet Jasper also required veterinary care. Both pitbulls involved in the attack were euthanized on August 14 under the direction of a local veterinarian. Crystal faces a challenging road to recovery, including physical therapy for neck injuries, scar treatment, and coping with traumatic memories.
In light of her ongoing treatment and recovery, Crystal has initiated a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe to cover medical expenses and other costs associated with the incident. Those wishing to contribute can support her by visiting the fundraising page provided.
As Crystal reflects on the ordeal, she acknowledges the impact of the attack through recurring nightmares and heightened anxiety, particularly concerning dogs with aggressive tendencies. Despite the emotional toll and the loss of the dogs involved, she remains grateful for surviving the traumatic event and the support received during her recovery journey.
