Noah Donohoe Inquest Raises Questions

CCTV footage revealed that Noah Donohoe was completely naked before he was tragically found deceased in a storm drain, as disclosed during an inquest. The 14-year-old was located in north Belfast in June 2020, nearly a week after he went missing while riding his bike to meet friends. Fiona, his mother, raised concerns today about the police’s handling of Noah’s disappearance and death, his access to the storm drain, and gaps in the CCTV coverage.

Noah was last seen alive on camera in Belfast city center shortly after 6 pm after riding his bike through the area. Early on the day he disappeared, footage captured him leaving his home at around 3:34 am and returning at approximately 4:08 am.

During the inquest, Fiona expressed dismay at the CCTV footage showing Noah’s journey across Belfast. She questioned why additional CCTV clips from different locations were not obtained and expressed confusion over the contents of the footage retrieved, which showed Noah without his bag, coat, and ultimately, completely unclothed.

Fiona also queried how Noah managed to access the storm drain where he met his demise and how he even knew about its existence. She expressed shock at the ease with which a child could enter the storm drain through a rear garden and highlighted her lack of understanding regarding Noah’s awareness of that location.

On the day Noah went missing, Fiona last saw him at approximately 5:30 pm before he set off to cycle across the city. Concern mounted when he failed to check in or return home by 8 pm as agreed, prompting Fiona to report him missing to the police at 9:45 pm.

In her testimony, Fiona questioned the discovery of Noah’s laptop and a book, which she described as always being with him. She also raised concerns about the police investigation, including her discomfort with providing her email address and password, disagreement with the theory of Noah having concussion, and the failure to search houses near the storm drain.

Additionally, Fiona disputed the notion that her presence at a police press conference constituted an endorsement of a particular theory, stating that she felt caught off guard. She mentioned finding a photo of an unknown hand on Noah’s phone, taken at a time when she was trying to contact him, further deepening her doubts about the police investigation.
