Israeli Airstrikes in Lebanon Kill 11 Amid Ceasefire

In recent events, Israeli airstrikes caused the death of a minimum of 11 individuals in southern Lebanon, as reported by the nation’s health ministry. This incident marked the most lethal strike since a fragile ceasefire agreement was established in June to cease hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, despite ongoing attacks.

Residents and emergency personnel in the area have accused Israeli forces of purposefully initiating wildfires that have been devastating homes, forests, and olive groves in the conflict-ridden region. The situation has instilled fear among the local population regarding their ability to remain in the area and the prospects for the hundreds of thousands displaced by the conflict to eventually return.

Will Christou, a journalist with The Guardian stationed in Beirut, has been covering the wildfires and the broader Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon.
