Freeview users are advised to promptly review their settings and retune their devices as the UK TV platform has initiated an update that includes alterations to the channel lineup and TV guide. Freeview has announced that certain broadcasters are implementing changes this week, necessitating a retune to ensure channels and the TV guide remain current.
The update introduces four key changes. Firstly, three channels have undergone rebranding, resulting in new names displayed in the TV guide interface. “That’s TV 3” on Channel 71 is now known as “That’s 20th Century,” offering music from previous decades and showcasing iconic shows like Yes, Minister, In Sickness and in Health, and The Saint. Additionally, “That’s TV 3 MCR” on Channel 86 has been renamed “That’s 20th Century MCR,” while “That’s Classics MCR” on Channel 93 is now simply “That’s Classics.”
Furthermore, a new channel called “That’s Entertainment” will be launched on Channel 75. Details about the programming on this channel are currently limited, but more information is anticipated soon.
Freeview emphasizes that such updates are part of ongoing adjustments by broadcasters to ensure diverse and current content offerings. Users are advised to check their TV planners for these changes, and if not updated, to perform a retune by following these steps:
1. Press the menu button on the remote.
2. Navigate to settings, installation, or a similar option.
3. Enter the PIN if required (commonly 1234 or 0000).
4. Select “first-time installation,” “factory reset,” or “full retune.”
5. Confirm the deletion of existing channels.
6. Allow the device to automatically search for and store the updated channels.
While Freeview updates occur regularly, this recent update is considered significant, prompting users to retune their devices promptly.
