Catherine Ommanney, a former romantic interest of Prince Harry, has responded to allegations of leaving a hotel in Majorica without paying the bill, attributing the incident to a “technical error.”
Ommanney, aged 53, was taken into custody on suspicion of fraud following accusations from the Playas del Rey Hotel management that she had not settled her approximately £450 bill after a nine-day stay, resulting in a €500 (£434) charge on a credit card with insufficient funds, according to investigators.
Despite the claims of non-payment, Ommanney has vehemently denied the accusations, labeling them as baseless. She insisted that the bill had been fully paid and attributed the misunderstanding to an error on the hotel’s part, stating her intention to seek redress through legal channels.
Speaking to the Majorca Daily Bulletin, Ommanney described the ordeal as a “nightmare,” clarifying that the bill was settled through a bank transfer as the hotel did not accept credit cards. She expressed frustration at the situation and emphasized that she felt mistreated during her time in custody.
Following her arrest, Ommanney was photographed with a Civil Guard officer en route to a court hearing in Palma, where she appeared under a previous surname linked to a past marriage. She has since been released on bail pending further investigation.
The Playas del Rey Hotel declined to comment when approached, while Ommanney’s lawyer refrained from making any statements without authorization. The circumstances surrounding her arrest and the legal proceedings remain under scrutiny.
Ommanney, known for her role in the Real Housewives of DC, previously disclosed a brief relationship with Prince Harry in 2006, though he has never publicly acknowledged the alleged affair. Reflecting on their interaction, she highlighted the maturity and wisdom she brought to the connection, suggesting that Harry sought a deeper connection beyond superficial encounters.
