Fan Ejected from Australian Open for Disruptive Behavior

A tennis enthusiast who gained online fame for supporting Emma Raducanu was ejected from the Australian Open for disruptive behavior. James Bray made headlines when Raducanu acknowledged him after her win. Bray, donning an ‘Australia’ tank top, affectionately called her ‘Raddo’ during the match. Raducanu, in her post-match interview, thanked him and invited him to all her future matches.

Despite his newfound celebrity, Bray’s enthusiasm took a turn for the worse during a match between Alex de Minaur and Frances Tiafoe at Rod Laver Arena. His vocal support was deemed too disruptive, leading to his removal from the venue with a 24-hour ban and a fine of $700.

Bray shared the incident on his Instagram story, sarcastically remarking on being kicked out for being a fan. As he was escorted out, he filmed the police intervention, describing the experience as both odd and somewhat enjoyable.

Following the incident, a Tennis Australia spokesperson confirmed that Bray had received multiple warnings before his expulsion for disruptive behavior. Victoria Police also noted that 21 individuals were removed from the tennis precinct for various behavioral issues, emphasizing their satisfaction with overall crowd behavior at the Australian Open.
