Family Left Homeless After Car Crashes Through Residence

A harrowing incident unfolded for a mother as her tranquil evening turned into chaos within seconds when a car plowed through her residence while she was with her children. Paige Amber, aged 32, was unwinding at home with her partner Joe, 40, and their kids, including a 10-month-old baby, when a Ford Fiesta reportedly lost control and crashed into their home in Capthorne, West Sussex, damaging the gas main and electricity supply on January 2.

The sudden impact shattered their sense of security, compelling them to evacuate immediately, leaving behind all their belongings due to concerns of the building collapsing. Since then, the family has been residing in a cramped Travelodge room without windows.

Recalling the traumatic event, Paige recounted the terrifying moment: “We had just finished dinner when at 7.25 pm, we heard a loud bang and saw parts of our house flying across the room. It felt like an explosion had occurred. The car, a Ford Fiesta, had crashed into our home.”

She vividly remembers the fear on her 10-year-old daughter’s face, stating that their once safe haven had been destroyed in an instant. Fortunately, no physical injuries were sustained, but the family remains displaced. Paige described their current living situation as a nightmare, with all four of them cramped in a single windowless room.

The cost of repairing the house is estimated at £30,000, with the restoration expected to take around four months. To add to their challenges, Paige’s youngest child was hospitalized with a chest infection recently.

In a bid to cover essential needs such as clothing, food, and temporary accommodation, Paige has initiated a GoFundMe campaign. She expressed the immense difficulty of the situation, feeling overwhelmed and aged beyond her years due to the recent events.

The family is struggling to cope with the aftermath of the incident, with Paige constantly seeking ways to improve their circumstances. She emphasized the significance of any support received during this challenging time.

Sussex Police have been contacted for a statement regarding the incident. Those willing to contribute can make donations to the GoFundMe campaign linked above.
