“EE Enhances Scam Guard Service to Fight Cyber Fraud”

EE has unveiled an enhanced version of its Scam Guard service to combat the escalating threat of scams in the UK. Recent data reveals that millions of pounds are lost daily due to cyber fraud, prompting the need for better protection measures. The upgraded Scam Guard is now available to all EE pay-monthly mobile customers for a monthly fee of £2, offering improved defense against fraudulent attacks.

Despite the additional cost, EE assures subscribers that the upgraded service provides significantly enhanced security. Since its initial launch in 2024, Scam Guard has already thwarted 169 million scam and spam attempts. With the latest version, EE anticipates doubling this figure over the next year.

The core of the new Scam Guard features AI Triple-Lock Protection, a suite of digital safety tools powered by Norton’s Genie AI engine to safeguard customers. These tools include Safe Email, offering proactive scam protection for email accounts round the clock. Safe SMS utilizes advanced AI to detect sophisticated scams in text messages, providing real-time protection. Additionally, Safe Web uses AI to block malicious websites while customers shop or browse online, preventing potential harm.

The upgraded Scam Guard also introduces Scam Assistant, enabling customers to upload screenshots of suspicious texts, emails, websites, or social media messages for instant feedback on their safety. Moreover, Social Media Monitoring and Dark Web Monitoring alert customers to any suspicious online activity, empowering them to take swift action.

Malcolm Cubitt, Director of Product, Mobile at EE, emphasized the importance of adapting to the evolving threat landscape, stating, “As fraud in the UK reaches unprecedented levels, our enhanced Scam Guard service offers customers an elevated level of cyber security protection. We are committed to leveraging innovative technologies and industry partnerships to shield our customers from evolving scams and threats.”
