“Count Nikolai of Monpezat Makes Acting Debut”

Count Nikolai of Monpezat, grandson of Queen Margrethe II, is thrilled about his new acting opportunity. The 26-year-old, known for his modeling work, is making his acting debut in the film adaptation of the 1905 Swedish novel, Doktor Glas. In this project, he portrays Patrick Gregorius’s half-brother.

Expressing his excitement for this new venture, Count Nikolai shared that his character in the movie is the “weird, wild brother” opposite the antagonist. Despite feeling intimidated initially, he found the script intriguing and embraced the challenge of acting for the first time.

While accustomed to the spotlight from his modeling career and runway appearances for brands like Burberry, Count Nikolai views acting as a job rather than a long-term career. He emphasized his enjoyable experience working on the Dr. Glas film and collaborating with a talented team in a stimulating environment.

Although considering a potential acting career, Count Nikolai, who also works as a consultant in the property sector, plans to evaluate his performance in the finished project before committing to more acting roles. Notably, his life underwent a significant change in 2023 when Queen Margrethe decided that her son’s children would only bear the titles of counts and countesses of Monpezat.

The Danish Royal Household clarified that this adjustment aimed to allow the grandchildren more freedom in shaping their lives without the constraints of royal duties. Count Nikolai, previously known as Prince Nikolai, expressed shock and sadness at losing his princely title, noting the abruptness of the decision’s announcement.

With a family connection to the late Queen Elizabeth, Count Nikolai remains focused on his evolving career in the entertainment industry. He appreciates the opportunity to explore acting and values the experience gained from his involvement in the film.
