TV personality Coleen Nolan recently shared insights into her initial divorce, explaining why she prolonged the marriage longer than necessary. Known for her appearances on the show Loose Women, the 60-year-old has gone through two divorces, the most recent one being from musician Ray Fensome in 2018. However, her most notable relationship was with EastEnders actor Shane Richie.
Coleen and Shane tied the knot in 1990 but separated in 1997, finalizing their divorce two years later due to allegations of infidelity. Reflecting on this period with her oldest son Shane, 37, on her YouTube channel, Coleen admitted to staying in the marriage longer due to concerns about her children being from a broken home.
After seeking therapy and realizing the impact on her sons, Coleen decided to end the marriage to set an example of healthy behavior. Apart from Shane, she has another son, singer Jack Roche, 33, from her first marriage.
Following her first divorce, Coleen remarried Ray Fensome in 2007, welcoming their daughter Ciara Fensome in 2001. Despite the challenges, Coleen emphasized the importance of effort in maintaining a positive co-parenting relationship for the sake of the children.
Her son Shane acknowledged the potential for using children as weapons in divorces, but Coleen expressed her refusal to do so based on her observations of friends’ experiences. Coleen’s candid reflections come ahead of her new solo show, This Is Me, where she will share her life story with audiences.
In a recent interview with Woman’s Weekly, Coleen discussed the vulnerability that comes with openness and honesty, emphasizing that being truthful brings her peace of mind.
