“British & French Troops to Aid Ukraine Peace Effort”

British and French military forces are set to be sent to Ukraine under a potential peace agreement to dissuade Russia from launching further attacks. Keir Starmer announced plans for the UK and France to establish military bases in Ukraine and construct secure facilities for weaponry and military gear to assist Kyiv in its defense efforts. This initiative comes after a joint declaration was signed in Paris by the UK Prime Minister, French President, and Ukrainian leader, paving the way for British and French troops to be deployed following a ceasefire.

In a significant development, the US, through envoy Steve Witkoff, has pledged support for security guarantees and indicated readiness to prevent Russian aggression and provide defense assistance to Ukraine if the peace pact is violated. The proposed peace blueprint includes the formation of a multinational force for Ukraine led by European nations, with potential involvement of non-European countries, such as the US. Additionally, the declaration outlines backing for a US-led ceasefire monitoring operation, sustained assistance for the Ukrainian military, and support for Kyiv in restoring peace following any future Russian aggression.

Keir Starmer emphasized the importance of international collaboration in promoting peace, stating that progress has been made but challenges still lie ahead. He stressed the need for Vladimir Putin to halt his warmongering activities to facilitate a lasting peace agreement. The PM expressed concerns over recent attacks on Ukraine by Russian forces and underscored the resolve of the allied nations to pursue peace despite provocations.

The announcement of this collaborative effort followed a meeting in Paris of the Coalition of the Willing countries, hosted by President Macron. US representatives, including envoys Witkoff and Jared Kushner, engaged in discussions with President Macron ahead of the gathering, signaling a significant shift in support for Kyiv and its allies. Despite past uncertainties regarding US backing for Ukraine, reassurances were provided by Witkoff regarding the commitment to security protocols aimed at deterring and defending against potential attacks.

Kushner echoed the US president’s call for de-escalation and emphasized the importance of establishing a strong deterrent to prevent future conflicts. He highlighted the milestone achieved through the coalition’s united front in pursuing peace and reiterated the commitment to assisting Ukraine in reaching a final resolution.

This development marks a crucial step forward in international efforts to bolster Ukraine’s security and stability amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions.
