Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that the ongoing Saudi Pro League season could mark the end of his illustrious football career. The 41-year-old icon, who joined Al-Nassr in December 2022, is set to see his contract expire in June next year, with prospects of another season appearing slim. In a recent interview with Vogue magazine, Ronaldo expressed his intention to craft a remarkable legacy in what he believes could be his final year in professional football.
With a staggering 976 career goals to his name, the Portuguese forward recently tied the knot with his longtime partner, Georgina Rodriguez. Ronaldo shared his future plans, emphasizing a diverse range of interests to occupy his time post-football. He highlighted the importance of filling the void that football’s absence may bring and expressed eagerness to engage in activities like padel, travel, and leisure pursuits that he has long enjoyed.
As Ronaldo embarks on his 25th professional season in the 2026-27 SPL campaign, he brings with him an impressive track record of accomplishments, including five Ballon d’Or accolades and five UEFA Champions League triumphs. His pivotal contribution of 28 league goals last season was instrumental in securing the Saudi Arabian championship for Al-Nassr, marking his first title with the club since his arrival in Riyadh and the team’s first league win since 2019.
Following his recent wedding festivities, Ronaldo missed Al-Nassr’s season opener but remained present to support his teammates from the sidelines. Coach Ange Postecoglou acknowledged Ronaldo’s continuous support and hinted at his potential participation in the upcoming King’s Cup fixture against Al-Diriyah. Notably, Ronaldo’s contemplation of retirement coincides with Lionel Messi’s uncertain future in football, as the Argentine maestro expressed doubts about his continued involvement in the sport following the recent loss of his father.
