“Shortage of Condoms at Winter Olympics Village Raises Concerns”

Reports indicate that the Winter Olympics village has exhausted its condom supply despite distributing 10,000 free condoms to athletes. Known for its lively atmosphere, the village has seen numerous stories of amorous activities over the years.

Authorities have taken measures to address potential issues by providing free contraceptives. However, while 200,000 condoms were handed out during the Paris Summer Games in 2024, only 10,000 were given out at Milano Cortina.

Despite the significantly lower number of athletes in Milano Cortina compared to the Paris Games, the allocated number of condoms proved insufficient.

An unnamed athlete revealed to Italian newspaper La Stampa that the condom supply ran out within three days, raising uncertainty about when more would be available.

In an effort to deter off-camera activities, organizers have introduced so-called ‘anti-sex’ beds, featuring a compact cardboard design, although their effectiveness has been questioned.

Past incidents include the shortage of condoms at the Sydney 2000 Games, where an additional 20,000 had to be ordered after the initial 70,000 were used up.

The importance of maintaining health and prevention was emphasized upon athletes’ arrival in Milan to avoid any potential spread of STIs.

An ex-Olympic gold medalist highlighted the vibrant atmosphere of the village, emphasizing the prevalent nature of intimate encounters among athletes, which contributes to the unique spirit of the Olympics.
