Apple has rolled out a crucial update for new iPhone users to address a wireless charging issue affecting some devices. The glitch is hindering wireless charging, forcing impacted users to resort to MagSafe for recharging.
Although Apple reports only a small number of users experiencing this problem, it is advisable for all users to ensure their devices are updated.
The iPhone 17 series, including the Pro and Pro Max models, along with the iPhone Air, are confirmed to require the update to resolve the charging issue. Apple clarified that the update specifically targets a limited number of users facing difficulties with wired charging when the battery is nearly depleted.
Updating your device is a simple process. Navigate to Settings, select General, and then tap on Software Update. Look for iOS 26.5.1 and select Update Now to install immediately or schedule the update overnight.
Ensure a stable Wi-Fi connection or have unlimited mobile data available as the update file size is substantial at 13.6GB.
