Renowned supermodel Janice Dickinson has filed a legal claim asserting that she suffered a fall on the set of the reality show “I’m A Celebrity… South Africa” after being administered sleeping medication by an ITV medic. The 70-year-old American icon is seeking significant compensation for what she describes as enduring “permanent facial deformities and nerve damage” from the incident that occurred during the 2023 show.
According to legal documents, the medication given to Janice could have caused drowsiness and impaired balance, leaving her especially susceptible to accidents while moving around in the dark. Close sources to Janice have disclosed that she now bears lasting facial nerve damage and severe scars on her face.
The fall, which Janice has labeled as “the most frightening night of my life,” reportedly has had a detrimental impact on her longstanding career as a supermodel. Allegedly, the injuries she sustained, including permanent facial scarring, deformities, and nerve damage, have affected her appearance, facial mobility, and sensation irreversibly.
In response, Janice has taken legal action against ITV, holding them accountable for the incident and seeking compensation. It is believed that a combination of the administered medication and the lack of lighting at the camp contributed to the unfortunate fall that led to her injuries.
Janice Dickinson, known as the world’s first supermodel and notably linked to actor Sylvester Stallone, has previously appeared on “I’m A Celebrity” in the Australian jungle in 2007. Reports suggest that the absence of a nightlight in the camp may have played a role in Janice’s accident, resulting in severe injuries to her face and wrists.
Regarding the situation, an ITV Studios spokeswoman confirmed receipt and review of Janice Dickinson’s claim, emphasizing the show’s adherence to high safety standards and the well-being of all participants as a top priority. The spokeswoman also stated that they provided care for Janice at the time, covered her medical expenses, facilitated her return to Los Angeles, and maintained communication with her team post-show.
Moreover, there are concerns among producers that Janice’s legal action could lead to further claims from other participants who faced perilous challenges on the show. This could prompt the need for legal waivers for future contestants to mitigate potential lawsuits arising from the show’s high-risk activities.
