BBC Radio 2 host Vernon Kay found himself in hot water with his wife after a little shopping trip to a DIY store over the weekend. Reflecting on the incident, he shared how an encounter at the store reinforced his strong bond with the BBC Radio 2 audience.
During his show, Vernon recounted the memorable experience: “I had a delightful moment at our local DIY store yesterday. I was there to pick up some items – you know, the typical ‘Sunday’ errand at the neighborhood DIY shop… I strolled through the aisles and came across a lovely couple, seemingly browsing floor tiles.”
Describing his appearance, Vernon humorously admitted, “I had my hoodie up, wore a bobble hat, and was in my joggers – I hadn’t even glanced in the mirror before leaving the house.”
He confessed that he was dressed in a manner that his wife, whom he affectionately refers to as “Strictly Come Dancing’s Tess Daly,” would disapprove of, exclaiming, “You went out like that? Did anyone see you?”
Despite the fashion faux pas, Vernon highlighted the broad outreach of Radio 2, narrating an encounter at the store: “So, at B&Q, as I passed by this couple, about five steps ahead, I heard a voice saying, ‘See you on Monday morning, Vern!’ I replied, ‘Yep, tune in every morning.’”
He remarked on the casual exchange, comparing it to reuniting with old friends or colleagues on a regular basis without much fanfare.
While Tess is currently not involved in work following her exit from Strictly Come Dancing, she is reportedly exploring various exciting opportunities. Tess, who had been a fixture on the show since its inception 21 years ago alongside Sir Bruce Forsyth, revealed her future plans, including the launch of her sportswear brand, NAIA Active, and hinted at upcoming television projects.
Expressing her enthusiasm for her new activewear line, Tess discussed the strenuous efforts leading up to the launch, emphasizing the business’s significance to her: “We’re delighted with the outcomes. This is a genuine business endeavor, not just a sponsorship deal. This is my passion project.”
