“Embracing Early Christmas Decor: Bringing Joy Amidst Criticism”

This year, I’ve made the decision to decorate for Christmas earlier than usual. When individuals choose to do this and share it on social media, they often face criticism, being labelled as ‘crazy’ or being told to ‘calm down.’ However, in the realm of social media, it’s clear that you can’t please everyone, so prioritizing your own happiness is key.

The rationale behind my early decorating choice this year stems from the proximity of my birthday, which falls just six days before Christmas, and my partner’s birthday, which is three days after mine. This often means we are not at home during the festive season buildup.

By decking our halls at the beginning of December, we ensure we have ample time to appreciate the beauty of the decorations. Given the current deluge of negative news, I firmly believe that finding joy in simple things like Christmas decorations is essential. Why wait to put them up if they bring you happiness?

There is no harm in early decoration; it neither hurts nor offends anyone. If someone takes offense, that is their issue. Furthermore, as many of us spend significant time at home, enhancing our surroundings with decorations can be a cost-free way to brighten our days, assuming we already possess the necessary tree and ornaments.

Despite potential mockery, putting up decorations is an enjoyable and fun activity in itself. Pairing this with a glass of mulled wine or a hot chocolate elevates the experience. Embracing the festive spirit by dancing to Christmas tunes and relaxing at home can be a delightful way to unwind.

As Christmas adverts air and markets bustle with activity, the approaching holiday season is palpable. Embracing the festive mood, rather than resisting it, can be uplifting. Unpacking cherished decorations, including ornaments with sentimental value, adds a warm and nostalgic touch to the season.

We unpacked holiday baubles collected over the years, handmade ornaments from friends, and our beloved Jellycat decorations. Additionally, we acquired a fresh wreath from a festive market, proudly becoming the first house on our street to display one.

For those feeling a bit like Scrooge, a dose of holiday cheer may be just what’s needed. So, bring out the decorations, turn up the Christmas music, and let the festive spirit envelop you. You won’t regret it; I guarantee it!
