A woman managed to escape a tragic train crash in Spain by changing carriages after finding the restroom occupied. By moving from the eighth to the fifth carriage, she unknowingly saved herself as everyone in the fifth carriage survived while many perished in the eighth.
The incident, which claimed the lives of at least 39 individuals, remains a mystery as investigators continue to determine the cause. Despite both trains operating within the speed limit on recently renovated tracks, the collision was described as peculiar by Spain’s Transport Minister Oscar Puente.
Passenger Lucas Merakio, who was in the fifth carriage of the Madrid-bound train that collided with another heading to Huelva, recounted the harrowing experience. He witnessed a young girl searching for her missing parents and observed non-Spanish speakers struggling to comprehend the situation.
In a detailed account, Lucas described the chaotic moments of the crash, noting the sudden vibrations and derailment of the eighth carriage. Amid screams and darkness, passengers assisted those in need until rescue services arrived, showcasing solidarity and bravery in the face of adversity.
