“Model’s Tragic Outback Expedition Ends in Crocodile Attack”

After being inspired by the movie ‘Crocodile Dundee’, an American model named Ginger Meadows embarked on a journey to the Australian Outback to experience it firsthand. Unfortunately, her expedition ended tragically.

Hailing from Snowmass Village in Colorado, a renowned ski resort, the 24-year-old ventured to the Northern Territory’s Darwin region with her friend, Jane Burchett, on March 29, 1987. Their destination was King’s Cascade aboard the luxury boat, Lady G, before continuing to Papua New Guinea. The boat, under the command of skipper Bruce Fitzpatrick and a small crew, reached the magnificent waterfall, known for its crocodile population.

Despite warnings about the dangerous waters, Ginger and Jane decided to swim, attracting the attention of a large saltwater crocodile. The predator cornered them against the waterfall, leading to a fatal encounter. Jane vividly recounted the terrifying moment when the crocodile attacked Ginger.

Tragically, Ginger succumbed to the crocodile’s swift assault and lost her life. Her body was discovered the next day, coinciding with what would have been her 25th birthday. Chief Inspector Arnold Davies described the retrieval of her remains, emphasizing the perilous encounter with a crocodile during the recovery mission.

Ginger’s estranged husband, Dwayne McCaulley, flew in to identify her remains. Bruce, speaking to the Daily Mail in 2017, disclosed that he had cautioned Ginger against entering the waters due to the crocodile threat, underscoring the high-profile nature of her death as one of Australia’s notable crocodile attacks. Statistics from Charles Darwin University highlighted the prevalence of crocodile incidents in the Northern Territory, with a significant number proving fatal over the years.
