Three major high street banks, part of Lloyds Banking Group, have announced the closure of 71 branches next year due to the increasing popularity of online banking. The closures, which were first disclosed earlier this year, include 40 Lloyds branches, 14 Halifax locations, and 17 Bank of Scotland sites. Customers affected by these closures have alternative options available.
Customers of Lloyds, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland can utilize branches across any of these three banks for their everyday banking needs. Additionally, individuals can explore the possibility of using a “banking hub” nearby, where a bank operates within shared public spaces on the high street.
A spokesperson for Lloyds Banking Group emphasized the shift in customer banking habits, with over 21 million customers opting to manage their finances through apps. The group is focused on providing diverse banking choices, merging digital convenience with personalized services. Customers can access banking services through the group’s app, as well as at any Lloyds, Halifax, or Bank of Scotland branch, the Post Office, or various banking hubs. Cash deposits can also be made at over 30,000 PayPoint locations.
