An 11-year-old girl is currently in critical condition at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland after being shot in the head by a stranger while inside her father’s car at an apartment complex parking lot. The incident occurred around 12:40pm on Monday when the gunman, identified as Ryan Hardy, unexpectedly fired shots that hit the girl.

The child’s father shared that her first words after the tragic event, asking why she couldn’t see, have been heartbreaking for him to hear. The father, who remains unnamed for safety reasons, expressed his deep sorrow and fear, emphasizing the impact of the incident on his family.

Police have identified the suspect as 23-year-old Ryan Hardy, warning the public that he is armed and dangerous. Investigators are urging anyone with information on Hardy’s whereabouts to contact 911 immediately. Additionally, individuals aiding Hardy may face arrest as accessories, as the investigation continues.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by relatives to support the family as they plan to permanently leave Antioch for safety concerns. The fundraiser aims to cover relocation expenses, lost income, emergency living costs, and the girl’s extensive medical treatment and therapy needs.

The family, described as honest and hardworking, faces uncertain times ahead, relying on the generosity of donors to help them navigate through this challenging period. Donations have already exceeded $7,800, showing the community’s support for the family during this difficult time.
