The latest report from UK regulator Ofcom reveals varying performance levels among major broadband providers in the country. Ofcom’s data indicates that TalkTalk, Vodafone, and EE ranked lowest in terms of customer complaints, falling below the national average.
According to Ofcom’s findings, EE, TalkTalk, and Vodafone received the highest number of broadband complaints, with TalkTalk and Vodafone experiencing an increase in complaints compared to the previous quarter.
On the other end of the spectrum, Plusnet emerged as the top-performing broadband provider with the fewest complaints, surpassing both EE and Sky despite being under the same ownership as BT.
Additionally, Sky secured the second position for the least number of issues, followed by a notable improvement by Virgin Media, which climbed to the third spot in terms of customer satisfaction.
The list of winners and losers based on complaints per 100,000 customers is as follows:
– PLUSNET: 4 complaints
– SKY: 6 complaints
– VIRGIN MEDIA: 7 complaints
– BT: 11 complaints
– VODAFONE: 10 complaints
– EE: 10 complaints
– TALKTALK: 10 complaints
Beyond broadband services, Ofcom also tracks complaints related to landline and pay-TV services. Utility Warehouse stood out as the top performer for landline complaints, with only 1 complaint per 100,000 customers. Notably, TalkTalk ranked lowest once again with 8 complaints per 100,000 customers.
In terms of TV services, TalkTalk received the fewest complaints, followed by Sky, Virgin Media, and EE. Despite complaints remaining steady across broadband, mobile, and pay-TV services, Ernest Doku, a telecoms expert at uswitch.com, expressed concerns about the lack of improvement in the industry and urged consumers to compare providers for better value as annual prices increase.
