“Google to End Chrome Support for Older macOS Versions”

Google has announced that it will no longer support Chrome on older versions of Apple’s macOS platform for MacBook users. While Chrome will still work on MacBooks and iMacs, users will not receive updates or security patches, potentially making them more vulnerable to cyber threats.

Starting July this year, Google will cease providing Chrome updates for Macs running macOS 12 (Monterey) or earlier. Users on these platforms will need to upgrade to a newer operating system like macOS Ventura to continue receiving browser support.

Unfortunately, some older Macs, such as iMacs predating 2017 and MacBook Air models purchased before 2018, are incompatible with Ventura. This could force affected users to consider purchasing a new device to ensure safe Chrome usage.

Google confirmed in a blog post that Chrome version 150 is the final release supporting macOS 12 (Monterey), with version 151 requiring macOS 13 Ventura or newer set to launch on July 28, 2026. Users are advised to transition to macOS 13 or later to access future Chrome updates and security features.

It is crucial for users on macOS 12 (Monterey) to upgrade to a supported macOS version to continue receiving the latest security updates and Chrome functionalities.
